Frequently Asked Questions
What is guar gum?
Guar gum is made from the endosperm of the seeds of the guar plant (Cyamopsis tetragonolobus). It is a high molecular weight polysaccharide with a mannose backbone and galactose side chains, in a ratio of about 2:1. It is a natural vegetable gum that develops full viscosity without heating.
What viscosity range of guar gum do you produce?
Our guar gum powders range from 2,000 to 8,500 cps, measured at 1% concentration with a Brookfield viscometer at 20 rpm and 25 °C. We also make a special grade of only 20 cps at 10% concentration for juices and beverages, and depolymerized guar gum from 50 to 1,000 cps.
Which guar products does Hindustan Gum make?
Food grade, industrial grade, textile grade, and cosmetic and pharmaceutical grade guar gum, refined guar splits, and guar meal (korma and churi) for animal feed. We also make modified guar gums and agri inputs such as Ankurayam and the HG range of liquid fertilizers.
Do you make modified guar gum?
Yes. We produce oxidized, carboxymethylated, borated and phosphated guar gum for textile and other industrial applications.
Can you make a grade to our specification?
Yes. We produce tailor-made guar gum products with specifications set by the end application. Send us an enquiry with your application and requirements.
